The one thing that I did not do much of last year was cook. As many know, or wonder, how do I constantly go out and eat, almost on a daily basis. There were many months last year where it honestly felt like I was at a different restaurant a day, so going forward to this year, I hope to cook more. For people who know me, not many know that I can actually fend for myself in the kitchen!
Some think that my cooking would be either packaged based, frozen based, or can based, but if I actually put my mind to it, I can cook a formidable meal. I was a little rusty going into this year, as the last time I truly prepared dinner it was over a year ago. Even my own mother did not realize that I can hold my own with a wok, and given the creativity in my mind when I am at a grocery store, I can think of new fixings.
Cooking at home, and having meals where we don’t go out can be a way to conserve on funds (which we are doing), but can also be some intimate times of spending time with people. I have a significant other who is willing to try my food, and I also do encourage some feedback into what I can do better to improve on this ‘craft’. I will say there needs to be more polish to cooking my meals, but it feels good to do this again, and I look forward now to cook again.
My partner, she is, in my mind a great cook, I hope that I can pull my own weight in the kitchen!

What do you like most about your significant other’s cooking?

The care she takes in each dish, and makes things look easy, when they really are not. And knowing what to use to bring out flavor, compared to nowadays where we are all using more salts, sugars, etc, instead of tasting the true nature of the food.
